Overview of i-THREAD
i-Thread is a sterile monofilament synthetic absorbable suture composed of the polyester, poly (p-dioxanone). Polydioxanone suture provides would support for a longer period as compared to other synthetic absorbable suture. Polydioxanone suture also offers far superior tensile strength.
When injected to the body, i-Thread is absorbed slowly in a period of 90-120 days. During this process, the body generates collagen as it is absorbed, enhancing firmness to the area of injection. The effect of i-Thread will generally last for about 2 years. It is also a painless procedure where there is no need for any anesthesia for the procedure (if the patient has a low tolerance for pain, topical anesthesia can be used.)
A thorough assessment of the product attached to the hand ridge may result in the suture to be often overstated without gradual increment.
